Svādhyāya means self-study and also the study of sacred books. Reading and study the right books is an extremely effective way to expand and develop your mind. I will be developing a recommended reading list of books that I have read and from which I have benefited. I will also include my thoughts on the book and why I think it will benefit your evolution. Let's hit the books!
First book I am recommending is one that you probably have not heard of Travels In the Search Of The Meaning of Life (Stories of those who have found it) by Rami Bleckt. Right off, the title really caught my attention, because that's what I have been doing in my own life. That's what we are all doing. From a table of books about chanting at a kirtan event in Fredericton - this one called to me. It was interesting as I thought that due to the fact that it was being promoted at such an event, I kept waiting for the author to come to the conclusion that all you need to do is chant and be happy. Not so. It was a captivating story that I guarantee will cause you to pause and reflect on how you are living your life
Please pick up the book and let me know your thoughts. Second one for you is A Complaint Free World by Will Bowen. This is a fantastic and practical book that brings deep understanding to the prevalence of complaining in our society and tools to mitigate this negative tendency. They have a wonderful way to bring awareness throughout the day and for you to enlist your friends and loved ones in moving toward positivity. Still working on attaining my "Certificate of Happiness", but I guarantee my complaining is much much less due in large part to this book. |
Coffee!!!
I have a passion for delicious, high-quality coffee. I enjoy exploring third wave coffee shops as I travel and have refined my own art of making excellent coffee at home. Life is too short for bad coffee. The links below are the tools of my avocation.

The Clever Dripper is my favorite way to make coffee at home. It has this well designed two-way valve at the bottom that allows you to do your bloom, add the rest of the water and let it brew while you're off getting ready for work. You don't have to use your gooseneck kettle and 'mind' the v60 or pour over. Taste is fantastic and it's super convenient. I'm on my third one as the legs can break off it you drop it. I tried other methods but I keep coming back to my Clever.

Making coffee is a grind!
Once you start making coffee at home and grinding your own beans, you're going to want a dedicated (not mixed with spices etc), reliable, adjustable burr grinder. Here's the one I use at home. |
